What is Mediation?

Mediation is a collaborative process that requires a commitment by the parties to work together toward a positive result, to avoid litigation and to treat each other with civility and respect. For many couples, these are ideal circumstances under which to reach agreements.

In mediation, an experienced family law attorney will listen to both sides, ask questions of each party, and try to develop agreements that are favorable for both. In mediation, unlike litigation, there are no winners and no losers. It is the mediator's job to offer agreements that take both parties' interests into account.

When Can I use Mediation?
